Spring 1

We have had such a busy half term filled with lots of fun activities. We have started with our NELI programme. This has included new stories each week which we have worked with each day. We have talked about key words in different situations so that we can get a greater understanding. Our favourite book to read was The Three Little Pigs. We enjoyed building houses out of different resources and using a hair dryer to see which would blow down. In PE this half term we have been looking at nursery rhymes. We acted out different nursery rhymes and thought how we would move in different ways for each part. For Hickory, Dickory, Dock we thought of ways to run up the clock, then when the clock struck 1 we pretended to be scared of the chime and ran back down.

We looked at sinking and floating. We predicted whether an item would sink or float then tested the theory. We also looked at materials changing. We made ice and predicted what would happen if we left it in the water tray.

This half term in phonics we have looked at m, d, g, o, c, and k. We are able to hear the initial sounds for words and when they are the same as other words.

In math's we have been looking at 1,2, and 3. We have been doing number songs and showing these amounts on our fingers. We have been labeling whether something has 1, 2, or 3. We have looked at shapes and matched them to the same shape while talking about its properties. We have made obstacle courses with blocks using the correct shapes to make the course we want.

We looked at the artist of the month Edward Tingatinga. We looked at the picture and described what we could see. We made our very own version of his work. We have also been looking at mixing prime colours to see what new colour we can make.

Well done for all the hard work this half term! Enjoy the break and we will see you soon!
