Autumn 2 - Seasons

At the beginning of this term Blue Class took a walk to the cenotaph at Whittington Moor to place a wreath of poppies we had made on the cross.  Back in school, in history lessons, we found out about the lives of soldiers in World War One.

As part of our topic work on seasons we have made tree calendars featuring the four seasons of the year.  In Maths we have been working on solving money problems, adding and subtracting the different coins.  In I.C.T we have been learning how to design our own power point presentations on the subject of healthy eating, and have been introduced to basic computer programming using `Scratch`.

In P.E we once again enjoyed the return of Rugger Eds who taught us the basic skills of the game of hockey.

In art and design we enjoyed designing our own glittery Christmas candles which were sent to Cauliflower Cards to be printed into Christmas cards.

As part of Literacy we wrote detailed instructions on how to make our Christmas pudding cards using `bossy` verbs and re-wrote the Nativity Story using chapters.  In Geography we have looked at maps of the Holy Land and surrounding countries at the time of Jesus and have located places such as Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth and the country of Egypt.  We have also drawn journeys on modern day maps of the world; undertaken from England to India, and to Cuba in the Caribbean.

We are all looking forward to performing our 2016 Christmas assembly, which is based on the story of Babushka - a Christmas folk tale from Russia.  We hope it will be as good as the production of Aladdin we went to see at the Pomegranate Theatre earlier his month - Ella and Rubie from our class went on stage!
