Summer 1

This term in Yellow class we have been looking at castles. In geography we have used aerial photos to look at Bolsover Castle and discussed where and why it was built. In history we have looked at different castles in the UK and around the world and learnt about he features of castles and what they are for. In science we sorted materials and thought about which materials are best for a castle and why. In DT we worked as a team to design and build a castle and in art we design a coat of arms. In art we also looked at Monet’s waterlilies and created our own version using shaving foam and food colouring. In maths we have been counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s, have begun to look at multiplication and division by adding and sharing equal groups. We also have look at half and quarters of shapes and amounts in a group and using positional language and described turns.in music we have been learning to play the glockenspiel. In literacy we used the book ‘The Train Ride’ and from this we wrote our own stories called ‘The Bus Trip’. To finish off the term we presented our completed castles and coat of arms to Miss Kay and shared all the information that we had learnt.
