Spring 2

What another great term we have had, the children have been working very hard this term and have learnt lots. Our focus this term has been science and we have been learning all about different animals and their habitats. We sorted animals into different categories and we discussed why different animals were suited to hot weathers and others to cold weathers. We researched facts about different habitats and designed a habitat in a cereal box using the facts we had learnt. In maths, reception have been learning about the composition of numbers to 10 and comparing numbers to 10. We have been learning the number bonds to 10 and have been practising writing number sentences. Year 1 having been measuring length using cm and rulers, mass using scales to compare the weights and found out the difference between capacity and volume when measuring liquids. We explored shapes and enjoyed going on shape hunts around the classroom and outside. In PE we have explored working on different ways of moving such as jumping, skipping and moving energetically. We really enjoyed celebrating World Book Day and Red Nose Day and getting the chance to dress up. For Easter we enjoyed our Easter disco, making Easter Cards as well as Chocolate nest egg buns. The children enjoyed crushing up the cereal and mixing the melted chocolate in. I hope they enjoyed eating them too! We had lots of fun on our Easter DT day, where we worked in teams to design, make and evaluate our design to protect an egg. We have had a fabulous term! I hope you have a lovely half term holiday and will see you back for Summer 1.
