Summer 1- Bears

Bears

This half term we have been looking at Bears, finishing off with a teddy bears’ picnic. We had some traditional stories with a twist such as Eat Your Greens Goldilocks! We linked this into looking at which foods are healthy and which aren’t.

As part of our creative area we had lots of fun making bear faces, painting with leaves, sticks and pine cones and making part hats for the picnic, as well as doing lots of mixing of colours to see what we could make.

We have started phase two phonics with some of the children ready for their move up into reception. We use Jolly phonics sounds and actions which the children have really enjoyed and if you want to do some sounds at home they will teach you the actions I’m sure!

In maths we have been working on numbers, counting and even some formation. We are all making great progress with our counting; some children are well ahead of where they need to be by the end of next year.

During our literacy time we have been using our imagination and pretending we are in stories as well as some sequencing and recall. Many children have made progress with writing their names since we have been looking are some letter formation during phonics time.

Our outdoor area has been resurfaced and we are hoping to get some new equipment to fill the lovely new space.

We have also been focusing on hygiene and why it is important to wash our hands.

I’m very happy with how well all of nursery has done and I’m looking forward to next half term being just as fun.
