Summer 2

This final term in Maple Class we have continued to look at history as our main focus and in particular the history of transport. We have look at the first aeroplane flight and learnt about the Wright Brothers and have created our own transport timeline and sequenced the events of air travel. In English we have been looking at biographies and learnt about the runner Florence Joyner. In maths, Year 1 have been looking at money and recognising the coins and using clocks to tell the time for o’clock and half past the hour. Year 2 have looked at telling the time to 5 minutes and using mass, capacity and temperature. Our artist of the term was George Turner and we drew landscape pictures on the school field. In PSHE we have been talking about changes – changes in our body, changes as we grow and change and how we can cope with changes. In music we have been learning to play songs on the glockenspiel and in computing we have been using scratch Jr app. In PE we have been running races, throwing javelins and the relay ready for our sports day and we planned a picnic as a whole school. We finished off the term with our trips Year 1 had a fantastic time at Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Year 2 went to Sheffield on the train to visit the art galleries. Year 2 are leaving us and they finished off the term with their leaver’s assembly, a trip to Gulliver’s and a fabulous afternoon tea. We will miss you all. Hope you all have a wonderful summer and I will see you in September.
