Autumn 2
What another fantastic half term in Red Class. In literacy we have enjoyed learning new vocabulary and reading stories such as ‘The Dinosaur that Pooped a Pirate’, ‘Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs’, ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’, ‘My letter to Santa’, ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ and many more. The children have also been practising their handwriting with the StartBee programme and they are beginning to form their letters well; we had some brilliant letters that the children had wrote to Santa! In our home corner we have begun to create a deconstructed role play area, where the children are using boxes and other materials to create where their imagination takes them. We have had some fantastic creations such as the robot, a cot and we even used the boxes to create a den and an indoor cinema! In maths we have been learning how to find one more and one less than a number, as well as beginning to measure short periods of time in simple ways, the children have enjoyed timing each other to see how long it takes to complete an activity. The children have enjoyed PE this term and learning new skills in gymnastics. The children had fun making an obstacle course and practising their balancing skills as well as completing other skills such as making shapes with their bodies. We have been little artists this term and looked at famous artists and their work such as Van Gogh’s Starry Night and recreated it using our own interpretations. The children enjoyed the live Pantomime and loved joining in, whilst eating some treats. What a fantastic end to the school term with the Class Disco! The children had a lovely time and were very excited to join in with all the fun games. Red class are definitely ready for the Christmas holiday. Merry Christmas and a happy new year!!
