Autumn 2 - The Lost World

Curriculum Overview - The Lost World

Well what a busy half term and what a lot of activities we have done in Yellow class! We started our Science by looking at the seasons and made autumn leaves and winter snowmen to decorate our seasonal display board. Year 1 have been measuring the weather in Autumn and Winter and went on a walk to look for signs of Autumn. Year 2 have been looking at different habitats and the animals that live there. Our topic has been dinosaurs, and as well as playing in our super dinosaur park home corner, in art we planned and made clay dinosaurs. In Literacy we used the story Tyrannosaurus Drip to act out and plan our own dinosaur story 'When the dinosaur came to school!'. In Numeracy we have been looking at 2D shapes and their properties, counting in 2's, 5's and 10's and writing numbers as numerals and words. In the busy Christmas period we have had a trip to the pantomime, yummy Christmas lunch, a Christmas art morning and we are looking forward to performing our Christmas assembly. A highlight was our trip to the Urban studies centre in Chesterfield to find out about preparations for Christmas, we got to make a decoration and visited the church to hear the Christmas story.
