Spring 2

This term in Oak Class in English we have been using the Great Fire of London book as inspiration and wrote a dairy as Samuel Pepys experiencing the events in 1666. In history we have learnt how the Great Fire of London started, why it spread and was hard to control and put out as well as how the fire changed aspects of life and how it still impacts life today. In maths we have finished our multiplication and division unit and then looked at measurements. We have measured length and height in centimetres and metres, mass and weight in grams and kilograms, volume and capacity in militres and litres and temperature in Celsius. In science we have learnt about the different habitat plants and animals’ life in, have made food chains and sorted objects by if they are living, dead or never been alive. In RE we have been learning about the story of Passover, how Jewish people celebrate and what foods are on the Seder plate and their meanings. In PSHE we have been talking about how we can be healthy and why this is important for our brains and body. We have thought about medicine safety and made healthy snacks. In computing we have looked at robot algorithms and made our own Bee bots mats. In PE we have been created a dance inspired by sweets and in music we have created our own soundscapes and motifs. In DT we design and built the axel and wheel mechanisms for a fire engine and tested that they worked. Our artist of the term was Georgia O’Keeffe and we used tissue paper to create large flowers and our music genre has been Big Band and swing for March. The term we also had our world book day in which we had lots of activities based round the books of Rachel Bright.  We also had our class assembly where we could share our learning with the school and our families.
