Autumn 1 - Superheroes
This terms topic - Superheroes - is all about ourselves.
In Science we have looked at how we grow. We conducted an investigation to see if the tallest children have the biggest feet. First we predicted what we thought the answer would be - some of us said yes and some of us said no. Next we measured each others height in cm using a tape measure and recorded the results on a chart. Then we checked shoe sizes and recorded those. Finally we looked at the results and found out that Haydn was the tallest child in the class and he did have the biggest feet. We also looked at keeping clean, eating healthily and what exercise we could do to keep fit.
In literacy we have written new skeleton stories based around the activities we have completed on the Funnybones stories.
In P.E Rugger Eds have been teaching everyone tennis skills.
Numeracy this half term has bee based around place value, addition and subtraction. We have used the practical base ten apparatus to help us add and subtract.
As part of music we have been listening to Peter and the Wolf and have acted out the parts of Peter, cat, bird, duck,Grandfather and the wolf in drama and dance.
We all enjoyed No Pens Wednesday, especially printing with leaves and painting hydrangeas from the school garden.
Everyone sang beautifully to parents and carers at the Harvest Festival in the Methodist Church, whilst back in school on BATs day we made pasta photo frames together. They now just need our portraits.
