Autumn 2

This term in Maple Class we have continued to focus on Geography and investigated the weather and seasons.

We made weather vanes and rain gauges and recorded the weather direction, rainfall and temperature on our weather charts. We sorted and matched the months for each season, drew pictures of events and objects to match the seasons and sorted suitable clothes as well as dressing our mannequin Maureen with clothes suitable for the different weather conditions in the seasons. In maths Year 1 learnt about using whole part models for place value and Year 2 used bar models to support their learning. In RE Year 1 visited the local church to discover and take photos of what makes a place sacred and Year 2 learnt about Judaism. Our artist of the term was Mark Rothko and we created our own versions of his art. We made our own sparkler Bonfire night treat using breadsticks, chocolate and sprinkles. For science day we carried our experiments to see what happened when we added mints to coke, salt to glue and mixed cornflour and water. On our Christmas craft day, we made baubles, calendars and Christmas tree pictures. We all had a part in our school nativity A Midwife Crisis working hard to remember our lines and all the songs. To finish off our terms work we made weather reports using a green screen, presenting our work in groups that we had researched about the country we had chosen and the weather through the seasons.
