This term we have been learning about minibeasts. In the first week we had a very special visitor ... a tarantula! It belonged to Meme's brother, Keenan, who came in and told us all about it. We found out lots about it including that it liked to eat locusts.
We also found out that tarantulas shed their skin. He brought some to show us.
Some of us labelled a spider.
We also read the story Spider Sandwiches and decided to make a minibeast cafe in our classroom.
We went on a minibeast hunt in our garden and recorded what we saw.
We have had some other visitors in our class too ... some caterpillars.
They have grown and grown and look at them now!
They reminded us of The Very Hungry Caterpillar story.
We also read the story The Bad Tempered Ladybird. We found lots of ladybirds in our garden and labelled them.
At the end of the term we invited our grown ups in for another BATS day. We all had fun turning a boring old egg box into something different. Thank you to all who came!
