Autumn 1
What a great start the children have had in Red Class. The children have settled in so quickly and are already producing fantastic work! The children have loved learning and developing their skills and knowledge through groups sessions and play as well as through different stories such as ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, ‘Supertato’, ‘Superworm’, ‘Mabel’s Magical Garden’ and many more. In the different areas in the classroom, we have had lots of opportunities to retell the stories with props and we have been using familiar phrases from the stories.
In literacy we have been sequencing stories and writing instructions on how to plant seeds, as well as labelling pictures from our stories. We have been listening to the sounds in words and working really hard in Phonics. Red Class enjoyed creating traps to capture the evil pea and well as a Supertato to help them save the school!
In maths we have looked at counting objects and matched them to the correct numeral. Maths Day was lots of fun, learning about symmetry through painting butterflies. As well as sorting objects into different groups and comparing them.
We have been little scientists and planted our own seeds. They have been observing them to see how well they are growing and have discussed what they need to be able to grow. The children have been exploring the outdoor area lots this term and we have loved exploring and finding minibeasts.
We have also been working on our Personal, Social and Emotion development through circle times and stories, such as Only One You. We discussed this story and worked on friendships and what makes a good friend. We then painted stones to look like fish from the story.
Thank you very much for your continued support!
