Autumn 1 - All about me!
Our topic has been ‘All about me’ and our home corner was a doctor’s surgery. In science, Year 1 looked at naming body parts, different animals and grouping them and our senses and used their five different senses to carry out an experiment. While Year 2 have been looking at exercise, diet and made their own healthy meal menu. In Literacy, we have looked at fairy tales retelling The Little Red Hen, writing letters to Cinderella and acted out the story of The Enormous Turnip. In art, we drew portraits of our friends, self-portraits and made bags in D.T. and in history and geography, we looked at different festivals, when they started and where in the country they are celebrated and we made our own well dressings in groups. In numeracy, we have been ordering numbers, Year 1 have been making different number bonds and Year 2 have been counting in 2’s, 3’s, 5’s and 10’s. On our ‘No Pen Wednesday’ we took a walk to the church where we had a hunt around to find different symbols and objects and found out what they are. At the end of the term, it was our first BATs day of the year and the class were joined by all our amazing artistically talented grown-ups who helped us to make miniature self-portrait well dressings what a busy first term in Yellow class it has been!
