Summer 2 - Oh I do like to be beside the Seaside

Our final term in Red Class! What a busy term it’s been too. We have been learning about the Seaside and thinking about the animals that are in the sea! We have looked at pictures and videos of different seasides around the world, thought about what people usually take with them to the seaside and read lots of stories about sea animals! We made jam sandwiches for our pack up just like the Grinlings in The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch, we painted pictures of the Rainbow Fish and acted out the story and we wrote postcards from our around the world adventures with The Snail and The Whale. We asked for an ice cream parlour in our role play area this term and Miss Sumpter and Mrs Williams decided we should all work together to make the ice cream parlour. We also thought an ice cream van was a good idea so we created a blend of both. We’ve absolutely loved selling ice creams to one another this term! In Maths, we looked at money, repeating patterns and practised counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

We went on our class trip to Eureka! and had a fantastic day exploring the museum. We flew to the moon to meet an alien called Zog and then had time to look around the rest of the museum. We even got to look up a giant nose and sit on a huge tongue!

We made all of our grown ups proud in Sports Day this year; completing all of the activities around the track and then competing in our class egg and spoon races! Our teachers were very proud of our behaviour on the field and our super sportsmanship! We have also spent a couple of weeks practising for our class assembly, we’ve been trying to remember to SHOUT so the grown ups in the back can hear us and learning our lines.

It’s been a fantastic year with a lot of change in Red Class but all of the children have took it in their stride and continued to be super stars! I hope you have an amazing summer holiday and continue to be fabulous in September!
