Summer 2
Wow! Looking back at all the photos from our final term, has reminded me of how super busy we have been in Birch Class! In literacy, we focused on the following books; Jack and the Jellybean Stalk, I Wanna Iguana and The Proudest Blue. We have been working really hard on our writing this term and I am so proud of how much progress the children have made.
In maths the children continued to engage with activities that focuses their attention to the purpose of counting – to find out ‘how many’ objects there are. The children have also revisited the concepts of sharing and grouping, number patterns and making connections between numbers.
In our understanding the world lessons, we have been learning about how Whittington Moor has changed. How buildings have changed, housing, transport etc? In RE, we have explored the topic of special stories. We talked about our favourite stories and then read a story from both the Bible and the Qur’an.
We have also continued working on our Personal, Social and Emotion development through circle times and stories. We’ve explored lots of different topics this term including how we change emotionally and physically and changes that happen to us e.g. transitioning into a different school year.
In PE our focus this term was on dribbling and controlling a ball. In our music lessons, we focused on learning about Big Band.
Finally, this term we had our school trip to Twycross Zoo. The weather may not have been great but the children were fantastic, a good time was had by all. Enjoy the summer holidays and we will see you in September!
