Summer 1

We have had such a busy half-term! It has been so lovely to spend lots of this half-term outside in the with sunshine! We completed our Superhero training in our Tiny Tots Ballet class, the children loved using their bodies in different ways like superheroes, they are getting really good at their first and second positions too. We have learnt about the artist of the term Joan Miro, who was a Spanish artist. We had a go at creating our version of her picture – The Garden. In phonics we looked at the sounds j v w y z qu and ch. The children have really enjoyed singing along to the nursery rhymes every day. They also love singing our days of the week song each morning.

We have continued with our NELI programme where we looked at a different book each week. We have done lots of fun activities relating to the different special words in the stories. We have read Pip and Posy – the New Beach, Dinosaur Rockets, Jack and the Beanstalk, Nothing Frightens a Bear and Franklin Frog. In maths we focused on copying and repeating patterns and making our own. We have also been strengthening our subitising skills up to the number 4. We also enjoyed completing simple jigsaws with between 4 and 6 pieces and matching shape resources, such as pattern blocks, to coloured templates. In our understanding the world lessons we have talked about where we have been on holiday and life cycles, including the life cycle of a bean. We even planted our own beans and have loved watching them grow.

In our PSHE lessons we have focussed on relationships, we talked about how to make friends and who is in our families. We discussed how to make friends and what we like about our friends and we learnt what to do if somebody is unkind to us. We have been continuing to do dough disco and squiggle while you wiggle! We love dancing to the songs each day whilst getting stronger. We started dough disco to help our fingers and hands get stronger and its working! Both activities will help us with writing our names, which we have been practicing every day.

Thank you for your support this half term and enjoy the break!
